Mt.Hale via Fire Warden's Trail 3/8/11

It was a crisp cold morning of - 4 degrees when Lilbirdie & I started out for Mt.Hale. After a mile long walk and passing the Seven Dwarfs Motel we turned and crossed the Little River. Taking a left immediately after the bridge we followed a herd (x-country ski) path for another mile to the trailhead of North Twin Trail.

Lilbirdie crosses bridge over Little River

Herd path immediately after bridge

Ice covers trees on path to North Twin Trail

Lilbirdie starts North Twin Trail

The old Fire Warden's Trail. Two hikers ahead of us
were breaking it out.

Hiking up Fire Warden's Trail

Clear blue sky with ice covered trees

Stillness among the ice birch, just beautiful

Icy snow makes this isle of pines hang low

Pines aside Fire Warden's Trail

The presidential range from a clearing on the ridge

 Mt.Washington from the clearing

Leaving the clearing back into the icy woods

Nearing the summit of Mt.Hale

Lilbirdie enjoys the sun and lunch on Mt.Hale summit
Notice the height of the usually high cairn
